Instructors

Ian Starr

My name is Ian Starr and I am the owner and head Jiu-Jitsu instructor here at Factory X BJJ. I came to Colorado over 9 years ago to study Aikido with Hiroshi Ikeda shihan of Boulder Aikikai. I am a black belt under Ikeda sensei and subsequently went on to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Amal Easton of Easton BJJ. I received my purple belt under Professor Easton and am currently an Affiliate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor under
Mr. Roy Harris. I am also a Level 1 Certified CrossFit Trainer. I opened Factory X Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to bring BJJ and CrossFit to the community of Littleton and beyond!

Andres Hermida

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Andres started competing in judo at the age of 7. After dedicating himself to Enduro Racing in the Dominican Republic, Andres rediscovered his passion for martial arts at Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida. There he started the Eckerd College Judo Club with instructors Gediminas Palkanis and Robert Cockey whom he got his brown belt from. Upon graduation with a degree in International Business, Marketing, and Management Andres moved to Colorado in order to dedicate himself to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. Andres currently holds the rank of Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Brown Belt in Judo.

Joaquin Baca

Joaquin earned his B.A., in Kinesiology, from C.U. Boulder. While attending college Joaquin was employed as a certified personal trainer. He has also earned certification as a level 1 CrossFit trainer.

Joaquin has earned a black belt in Kung Fu San Soo from master Brynn Stephens and his brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu from Professor Brad Gumm. Joaquin has studied mixed martial arts, including Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai kickboxing and boxing under two-time UFC veteran Brad Gumm. He has also studied Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under Professors Shane Pitts, David Ruiz, Josh Ford, and J.J. Pugsley. Joaquin has also studied Muay Thai kickbox ing under Mr. Oscar Martinez.

Joaquin has, successfully, competed in several gi and no-gi grappling tournaments and has had one amateur MMA fight in which he earned a unanimous decision victory.

Joaquin has been employed as a police officer since 1996. During this time he has been a member of the SWAT team and traffic team.

Joaquin is a CO POST certified instructor and has been an arrest control instructor since 1998. He instructs police recruits and sworn officers in all areas of arrest control, groundfighting, baton, defensive tactics, and physical fitness. He is also a certified FBI defensive tactics instructor.


Marc Montoya

We offer Muay Thai Kickboxing for beginners and the advanced practitioner, adult and children's classes. Kru Marc Montoya oversees our Muay Thai Program as well as our Mixed Martial Arts Program and Pro Fight Team under the flag of Factory X Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts. Marc is certified by the United World Muay Thai Association. He brings over 10 years of experience as both a fighter and a trainer to our program.

Grace Jividen Sensei

Jividen Sensei is a 6th degree black belt and a former Olympian. She heads the children's judo programs here at Front Range BJJ/Gracie Judo. She is a fierce competitor, and an excellent instructor.
